A multinational logistics organisation was exposed to a potential extortion attempt. During our assessment of the threat, it became apparent that the organisation was not adequately prepared to respond to a crisis. It also did not have established emergency evacuation plans, which exposed the local business to rival competitors and placed expatriate and local national staff at increased personal risk.
NYA worked closely with the in-country team to develop a series of crisis and emergency management procedures that would integrate with the corporate headquarters’ plans. We also put together an emergency evacuation plan for the partial or full evacuation of expatriate staff and their dependents, covering sea and air extraction methods as well as the implementation of a warden system.
This gave the management team confidence in their ability to handle a local or regional crisis and ensured that any future extortion attempts would be more effectively managed.
